Fun fact: there is a partial B2G e-invoicing mandate in the United States of America. More specifically, in 2018, the US Office of Management and Budget (OMB) published Memorandum 15-19, directing federal agencies to manage invoices electronically for “appropriate federal procurements”.
And things are bound to accelerate in the USA from here, following the April 2024 announcement of a joint EU-US collaboration, with involvement from the US federal government and the White House.
Along with the creation of the DBNA and its Peppol-like network, these developments are expected to significantly boost the growth of e-invoicing in the USA. The adoption of globally recognized standards will also make it easier for companies across the country to implement e-invoicing.
